DHL is set to take a minority stake in the UK parcel carrier Evri, as part of a deal that will see its e-commerce business in the country merged with the private equity-backed logistics group.
Evri was acquired by the US investment group Apollo last year from Advent International for roughly £2.7bn. Advent had bought the business in 2020, when it agreed a €1bn deal to acquire the UK operations of the Hermes parcel delivery group from German mail-order company Otto.
The combined business will deliver more than 1bn parcels and a similar number of business letters annually, according to a joint statement. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We are delighted to welcome a global leader like DHL as a strategic partner and shareholder,” Evri director and Apollo partner Alex van Hoek said in a statement.
