{"id":40810,"date":"2026-02-04T12:31:06","date_gmt":"2026-02-04T12:31:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/financialrush.com\/?p=40810"},"modified":"2026-02-04T12:31:06","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T12:31:06","slug":"brookfield-steps-up-succession-planning-with-new-asset-management-head","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/financialrush.com\/?p=40810","title":{"rendered":"Brookfield steps up succession planning with new asset management head"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> \n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Unlock the Editor\u2019s Digest for free<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__content-sign-up-topic-description o3-type-body-base\"><span>Roula Khalaf, Editor of the FT, selects her favourite stories in this weekly newsletter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"article__content-sign-up-iframe close\" scrolling=\"no\" id=\"signUpIframe\" data-prev-url=\"\/register\/in-article-sign-up?ft-content-uuid=8ce19cd8-2e28-403e-8a1c-e5e36a41fb1b\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<div id=\"article-body\">\n<p>Brookfield has promoted Connor Teskey to chief executive of its asset management arm, as the wider private capital group steps up succession planning to long-term chief Bruce Flatt.<\/p>\n<p>Teskey will head the asset-light, listed division of the wider group that controls $1tn in assets, as one of several potential successors whom Flatt is testing out in prominent roles.<\/p>\n<p>Flatt will remain as chief executive of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/stream\/0372179e-8f26-4dbb-bb2b-f2f05825d0fe\" title=\"\" data-trackable=\"link\">Brookfield Corporation<\/a>, the listed majority shareholder of Brookfield Asset Management, and chair of the asset management arm, the group said on Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p>The news is the latest sign that Brookfield Corporation is planning for life after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/stream\/e83333eb-6536-34dd-90b6-c387362c2649\" title=\"\" data-trackable=\"link\">Flatt<\/a>, who over two decades has built the group into one of the world\u2019s biggest alternative asset managers with assets spanning real estate, infrastructure, renewable energy and buyouts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s announcement is the next step in the succession process we started four years ago. This will set up our next generation of leaders who will guide the company in the coming decades,\u201d Flatt said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p>Teskey, who is in his thirties, has been president of the asset management arm since 2022, when the group spun out a stake in the unit in a bid to improve its stock price. <\/p>\n<p>He is a member of the wider group\u2019s executive committee and has also headed Brookfield\u2019s renewable energy arm since 2020, having launched the firm\u2019s energy transition funds with Mark Carney, Brookfield Asset Management\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/4884af97-ffac-4dc4-872f-01cc828f19c3\" title=\"\" data-trackable=\"link\">former chair<\/a> and now Canada\u2019s prime minister.
