{"id":33019,"date":"2025-07-02T15:05:26","date_gmt":"2025-07-02T15:05:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/financialrush.com\/?p=33019"},"modified":"2025-07-02T15:05:26","modified_gmt":"2025-07-02T15:05:26","slug":"donald-trump-says-israel-has-agreed-to-conditions-for-60-day-ceasefire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/financialrush.com\/?p=33019","title":{"rendered":"Donald Trump says Israel has agreed to conditions for 60-day ceasefire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> \n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Unlock the White House Watch newsletter for free<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__content-sign-up-topic-description o3-type-body-base\">Your guide to what Trump\u2019s second term means for Washington, business and the world<\/p>\n<p><iframe class=\"article__content-sign-up-iframe close\" scrolling=\"no\" id=\"signUpIframe\" data-prev-url=\"\/register\/in-article-sign-up?ft-content-uuid=ab4d1700-7828-4048-96ba-30d5a4dbf725&amp;newsletter-id=65b8fec772badb00166eafc6\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<div id=\"article-body\">\n<p>US President Donald Trump has urged Hamas to accept what he called a \u201cfinal proposal\u201d for a 60-day ceasefire with Israel in Gaza, claiming that Israel had agreed to the \u201cnecessary conditions\u201d for it to be finalised.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s comments, the latest in a string of public ultimatums he has delivered to the Palestinian militant group, came after he said he would be \u201cvery firm\u201d with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the need for a quick deal when the two meet in Washington next week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIsrael has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalise the 60 Day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the War,\u201d Trump wrote on Truth Social late on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal. I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better \u2014 IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump did not give any details of the terms of a possible truce, and efforts by the US, Qatar and Egypt to mediate one since Israel broke the last ceasefire in March have repeatedly failed.<\/p>\n<p>Hamas did not give a definitive response to Trump\u2019s demand, but said on Wednesday that mediators were engaged in \u201cintensive efforts\u201d to start a \u201cserious\u201d round of talks.<\/p>\n<p>The group added that it was striving for an agreement that would guarantee an end to the war, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and an influx of aid to the shattered enclave.<\/p>\n<p>Israeli officials have previously said they would accept a proposal for a 60-day ceasefire put forward by Trump\u2019s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, during which some of the roughly 50 hostages <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/d5475d96-5469-4837-bde7-d4e46d60a5a4\" data-trackable=\"link\">still being held by Hamas<\/a> \u2014 about 20 of whom are thought to be alive \u2014 would be released.<\/p>\n<p>But Netanyahu has repeatedly balked at agreeing to any deal that permanently ends the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/israel-hamas-war\" data-trackable=\"link\">war in Gaza<\/a>, one of Hamas\u2019s central demands, leaving efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement deadlocked.<\/p>\n<p>The Israeli prime minister said during a visit to an energy facility in Ashkelon on Wednesday that Israel would destroy Hamas and free the hostages still being held in Gaza by the militant group. \u201cThere will be no Hamas,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are not going back to that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, since brokering an end to the 12-day war between Iran and Israel last week, Trump has launched a renewed push for a deal in Gaza, and said earlier on Tuesday that he hoped one could be agreed imminently.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope it\u2019s going to happen.
