We’re announcing the winner of our latest charts competition a bit early this week, given that roughly 50 per cent of FT Alphaville’s staff are about to fly to the US and the rest are off right now.

Sorry to those who still wanted to enter their guesses, but barring American detention we’ll be publishing a new quiz on Friday (plus a round-up of Tuesday’s pub quiz extravaganza).

As many people picked up on, the extremely unsubtle theme of Friday’s chart quiz was Trump trades. The correct answers were:

This is the vibes-based share price of Trump Media and Technology Corp.

Line chart of showing Second chart

Quite a few guessed Morgan Stanley here, and there is a similarity, but this line shows the performance of the KBW Banks Index. It’s nice to see how Americans turned out to vote to make US financial stocks great again, right?

And this here is the dollar index, which Trump might have designs on.

Clearly this is a week seared in people’s minds, as we received correct guesses from Matthew Dawson, James Ritossa, Ben O’Dwyer, Charles de Nobrega, Karim Henide, Philipp Dmitriouk, Anthony Cheng, James Memon, Tomi Vamos, Ed Roe, Conor Murtagh, Finlay Königer, Sam Lee, Greg Tucker, Aaron Lewis, Pat Chan, Jonathan Lipworth, Vich Gosonvich, Bas van Geffen, and someone who wanted to be anonymous (fooling no one, “Saylor Twift”).

And the winner is . . . . . . . chart quiz stalwart James Memon, who has been in the mix many times before, but walks away with the tee for first time. Huzzah!

However, the number of correct guesses we’ve had lately indicates that we need to jack up the difficulty level a few notches on Friday . . .
