Your guide to what Trump’s second term means for Washington, business and the world
Maurene Comey, a New York federal prosecutor who worked on cases against Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, is suing the Department of Justice over its decision to fire her in July.
The lawsuit accused the department of firing her “solely or substantially because her father is former FBI director James B Comey, or because of her perceived political affiliation and beliefs, or both.”
Comey, who was a prosecutor in the Southern District of New York for almost a decade, also worked on the case against music mogul Sean Combs. She was dismissed at a time when President Donald Trump was facing scrutiny over his links to Epstein.
The justice department delined to comment.
