Your guide to what the 2024 US election means for Washington and the world
President Donald Trump’s new defence secretary has confirmed the US’s “continued commitment” to a western initiative to co-ordinate arms supplies to Ukraine, his British counterpart said on Wednesday.
Speaking at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, an alliance of almost 60 countries formed to oversee military shipments to Kyiv, UK defence secretary John Healey said: “It’s a pleasure to be joined by [US defence] secretary [Pete] Hegseth, who confirmed to me this morning the US’s continued commitment to this UDCG.”
Trump has previously warned that he could suspend US arms shipments to Ukraine.
