Washington DC, it’s time to get quizzy. The FT Alphaville Pub Quiz will land in the US capital next month, thanks to the very generous support of the Investment Company Institute.
For those unfamiliar with the concept, here’s a write-up of our last quiz. The key elements will remain the same: tricky financial and economic trivia in a convivial atmosphere, hosted by the FTAV team, with prizes including glory and exclusive mugs. So fire up some group chats, assemble those nerds and clear your evening on February 6.
In addition to putting up all the food and drink (!!!), the ICI has kindly offered to provide a battle arena quizzing space at their offices in central DC — just a short walk from the Treasury Building, for those planning to make a big night of it. 😱
Here’s what you need to know:
What:
Seven(ish) rounds of questions in a classic pub quiz format, covering anything that might loosely be defined as economics and finance-adjacent. Expect everything from financial regulations, IMF minutiae and US monetary history to guessing corporate logos and identifying charts.
Teams can be up to four (4) people, but ideally no fewer than three, so that we can maximise how many people can come. If you can’t form a team but desperately want to attend then email us and we’ll try to put you into a desperado team of stragglers.
Tickets are $20pp, and include free drinks and sharing food. Yep, the ICI is opening the bar for us. 🤜 🤛 Vegan, veggie options will be available as standard, but let us know if you need something gluten-free and halal as well. Payment will be required upfront.

When:
6 February. Sign-in will run from 5:45pm, with questions to start at 6:30pm. The quiz should be wrapped up by 10pm-ish.
Where:
The Investment Company Institute offices at 1401 H Street, NW, Suite 1200, Washington, DC 20005. The offices are a short walk from the McPherson Square Metro stop, which is on the blue, orange, and silver lines of the Washington Metro system.

For your entry to be complete, you must CC all team members, give the mobile number of the team captain, and state your team’s name. Please also let us know if your team members have any dietary requirements so we can order appropriately.
